Animation Is Dead

2d animation is dead you hear the phrase all the time in spite of recent 2d releases the likes of which make it to the top of the oscar short list. 2d animation is not dead say animators. Ive been learning 2d animation as a hobby but now that i graduated high school i want to make it a career.

2d animation is very much alive and well but just not in the way we think mainstream theatre releases have disappeared since the princess and the frog in 2009 and disney favoured 3d films with tangled and frozen becoming huge hits.

Animation is dead. No this isnt completely true. Whether its dead or not today were going to do something very different and look at reasons why 2d should be left in the past and abandoned completely from here on out. It didnt help when disney announced that 2d animation was dead.

Im searching for courses online but then i saw some people saying 2d animation is dead. So is 2d animation dead. Whether you are five 21 or pushing 90 the charismatic nature of animated films has colored our world in so many vivid shades that its hard to keep count. 2d animation is very much alive and well in the hands of independent creators.

So now im wondering if its a good career path to get into. This is why when we decided to create our own animated short i made the choice to do it with 2d and taught myself how to animate. So we encourage everyone who loves 2d animation to support the indie creators that do it.
